6.            Use the sample newsletter article provided by LEAVE A LEGACYâ Connecticut to introduce the campaign to your donors and friends.

7.            Run a series of articles in your newsletter about planned giving in general. Why not include testimonials from your donors about their giving?

8.            Use the following language in annual report and other publications: “[Name of organization] is a participant in LEAVE A LEGACYâ Connecticut, a statewide public awareness effort to promote charitable giving through wills and estates.”

9.            Publicize the LEAVE A LEGACYâ Connecticut hotline, Infoline 2-1-1. Those who call to inquire about LEAVE A LEGACYâ will be sent a donor kit and brochure.

10.        Put a message on your voice mail indicating that your organization is prepared to accept bequests or has a bequest society.

11.        Alert your staff about LEAVE A LEGACYâ and your participation, particularly those answering phones. Post a simple note at the front desk for volunteer receptionists.
